About Kitchen & Court

Joint-friendly pickleball gear, chosen honestly — for players 55+ and anyone shopping around a sore hand, elbow, wrist or knee.

Kitchen & Court exists to answer one question well: what pickleball gear is actually easy on your body?Almost every other gear site writes for the tournament player chasing spin and power. We write for everyone else — the enormous, fast-growing crowd of players over 55, and anyone of any age shopping around arthritis, tennis elbow, a weak wrist or bad knees.

Who writes this

Kitchen & Court is written by Stephen V., an enthusiast who’s genuinely into pickleball and cares that older players — and anyone with sore joints — get gear that doesn’t punish them. Here’s the honest part, stated up front: I’m not a doctor, a physical therapist, or a coach, and I don’t run a testing lab. What I do is read the manuals and spec sheets, compile the published numbers, and do the math on what actually affects your hands, elbows and knees. No lab coat, no sponsorships. Nothing on this site is medical advice.

What we are — and what we’re not

We’re a small, independent publisher, not a store and not a brand’s marketing arm. We don’t take payment for placement, we don’t invent reviews or star ratings, and we don’t claim to have tested products we haven’t. When a paddle maker won’t publish a weight, we print “Not published” instead of guessing — because what a brand hides is information too.

We’re also not pretending to be a medical resource. Our health guides are grounded in real research — injury studies, the CDC, the Arthritis Foundation — and every factual claim is cited. But the point of them is to help you have a better conversation with your own doctor, not to replace one.

Why the senior and joint focus

Pickleball’s explosive growth has been led by older players, and the injury research shows the burden of getting hurt falls hardest on that same group — concentrated in falls and wrist fractures rather than the sport being dangerous. That’s a group that deserves gear advice written specifically for them, and almost nobody was providing it honestly. So we do: shoes that prevent falls, paddles that spare sore arms, and supports that let you keep playing.

How we choose products

Every recommendation is built from published specifications, honest buyer-fit reasoning, and live prices — never from a claim we can’t back. We explain exactly how on our how we researchpage, we’re transparent about how the site makes money on our disclosure page, and we hold ourselves to the standards on our editorial policy. If you ever spot something wrong, tell us— if you’re right, we’ll fix it and say we did.
