Most of what a woman needs for pickleball is not gendered at all — paddles, balls, bags, gloves and eyewear are the same for everyone. The one thing that is genuinely cut differently is the court shoe, built on a narrower last and usually lighter, and shoes happen to be the single most protective gift in the sport for a woman over 55. The injury studies are blunt about it: for players over 60, women are roughly three times more likely than men to fracture something in a pickleball fall, and more than half of the injuries in that age group are ground-level falls. Grip and stability are the gift.
